How You Can Help
If you are interested in helping me to be re-elected, please send me an email. I need people who are prepared to talk about me, distribute flyers or have a sign on their lawn. While campaigns cost money, I would rather that you make a donation to an organization that helps our kids who have challenges to help them to meet with success. We have so many children in our Region that need some extra help to succeed - consider supporting them. The three organizations that I would recommend are:
Nutrition for Learning - providing nutritious breakfasts and snacks for children to give them the energy to learn and succeed each day. Many children in our community go hungry for one or more meals per day, Nutrition for Learning helps these kids so that they can learn.
Send Em Off Smiling - is a registered charity which was founded in 1994 to provide school clothing and supplies for local children in need. We rely on teachers to identify those children who will benefit most from the program. We know from teacher feedback that the program does an exemplary job of "connecting the dots" between child poverty, learning readiness, and the future prospects of these children.
Strong Start - an organization that assists young children in learning some initial reading skills. Builds community by encouraging those who live and work in the community to be involved in supporting its children and provides meaningful volunteer opportunity. Strong Start has great success with kids who struggle with reading at an early age.
Waterloo Education Foundation - this separately incorporated foundation raises money through an annual golf tournament and direct donations to the foundation. The money is distributed to schools in need. If you have a school you want to help or a group of students you want to help, you can direct your donation to a specific need and/or school.
Consider making a donation in the amount you would have given me to support my campaign and then send me a note to tell me you have done it so I can thank you! (Please note, that mention of these organizations does not in anyway imply endorsement from the organizations )
If you have another youth serving organization that you support - make another donation to them.
